Hello, I am trying to place a blind female cat. She was left behind by neighbors, and had a litter of kittens that are now 4 weeks old. I have found homes for the kittens but am having trouble placing the momma cat. She had to have her eye removed last year, and only sees shadows from her other eye.. She is very fearful of dogs, which I have 8 of so my home is not the ideal place for her. She is extremely sweet and likes people once she gets to know them. She is mostly blind so will need to be an indoor cat. I am in east Texas.. If you would like more info on her, please contact me at

I have a dog who had puppies (ten of them) I have 5 of them left. I'm trying to give them to a good loving home. I can not afford to feed them all. They do eat wet food, that I bought at the local dollar store. I cant afford to buy it nolonger. Because I have two kids, one wearing diapers, the price of gas ($3.09) and my husband is the only one who has a job right now. We just can't afford it, if you could help me out I would really appreciate it. You can reach me by e-mail melisastrode@yahoo.com I live in Missouri; Independence. _.___ . __,_._,___
Hello,
I have a 2 & 1/2 year old dachshund named Elf. This past Saturday he collapsed and he could not use his back legs and has no control of his urinary or bowel functions. I took him to the Columbus, Ga animal emergency clinic and they took x-rays, then told me I would need at least $3000.00 for surgery. I am on a fixed income and could not afford this. So they put him on Prednisone. I have been trying to take care of him but I am not able to give him the proper care he will need. I am giving him baths every few hours but he has now developed rashes from the urine. I am using training pads and baby diapers to try to keep him dry, it is not working. He is also constipated and in discomfort. I called the vets office and was told there is nothing they can do for him, they receptionist told me to give him some pumpkin and it would help, however it has not worked so far. At this point I am afraid if I cannot find someone who can take care of him I will have to have him put to sleep. Is there anyway your Resue group can help Elf? He is extremely loveable and gets along well with children and other dogs.

Goldie is a gentle, loving and magnificant 4-year-old Chow/Collie mix who was rescued from the city pound. Goldie came in as a stray and was going to be euthanized because he is blind. But, his lack of sight does not deter Goldie's love of life, enthusiasm and affection. (He reminds one of an unseeing Lassie) Goldie loves people and other animals. He is housebroken and otherwise healthy. It is hard to put into words, Goldie's courageous and optimistic spirit. He does not let his disability interfere with his zest for life. If bumping into things, Goldie simply moves on. Sightless dogs usually attach very closely to their caregivers and give great joy. Some of our most successful adoptions have been blind dogs. Can you open your heart to this wonderful dog who is ALL heart? If so, please call us at (212) 427-8273, rather than email. Goldie is a true "find" and will make some lucky and compassionate person very happy! | New Yorkers for Companion Animals (NYCA) New York, NY 212 427-8273 NYFCA@aol.com . __,_._,___

Some of you may remember Kane, the white pit bull I met at the shelter, being dumped by his person, Maria. Maria told me that Kane was suffering because he was having a hard time walking. She cried as she told me she wanted his suffering to end and that's why she was bringing him to the shelter. Sadly, a lot of people in the South Los Angeles area are naive about what goes on at the shelter. She thought they would vet her dog and then find him a new home. I told her that the shelter does not have the resources to vet her dog. I told her that the dog must be held by law at the shelter for 5 days and that he would be terrified and sad, knowing he had been abandoned. She did not leave Kane at the shelter.
Maria is one of the few owners turning in a dog who actually cares, who actually wants help so she can keep her beloved dog. She has had Kane since he was a puppy. Maria's friends are telling her "he is just a dog" but to Maria, he is her child. A very kind person donated so that Kane could go to Dr. Olds, the BEST ortho vet, and get a proper diagnosis. Kane has grade three luxating pattela--his knees pop in and out when he walks. The cost to correct both knees is $3200! Maria has agreed to raise $500 to help her dog and I told her I would do my very best to raise the $2700 balance so that Kane can once again run and play like a normal young pup. This seems like a huge amount to raise and I am praying for a miracle for him. If he does not have the surgery, Maria feels that Kane is suffering and she would rather euthanize him than let him continue to suffer and be sad. If enough funds can be raised, the surgery will be done by Dr. Olds at Brentwood Pet Clinic. They no longer accept phone donations because they have been bought by a large corporation and are now not allowed to accept donations over the phone. Donations of any amount to help Kane are greatly appreciated. To make a donation, please visit his fund raising page at: https://www.fundable.org/groupactions/groupaction.helpkane With gratitude, Rita

Alexandria is a very pretty young female bluetick, surrendered by her owner to the Rockbridge SPCA in Lexington VA. Alexandria came in rail-thin and now she has a deep cut in her foot. This shelter is very crowded and while they want to find Alexandria a good home they will also need to euthanize for space. The vet comes tomorrow and Alexandria is near the top of the list. Can someone help this pretty girl? Alexandria is only about a year old. She is very sweet, good with other dogs, and tested foodbowl safe. Please let's give her a chance!

I had thought that Ari was going to a rescue, but I never got any further contact about it, Now the army is moving us, and I have got to place her ASAP, and I lost all the addresses of others who were interested in her. PLEASE! If anyone is interested in helping her, or having a special needs themselves, PLEASE contact me ASAP. Again, she is perfectly healthy kitty, and a sweetheart, she had to have a tumor removed, and is spastic ( I was told by the lady who I took her in from that she has cerebral palsy ) she walks like a drunken sailor, but uses a cat box and everything fine. I rescued her myself from a army couple here, that were being moved, and were going to have her put to sleep that day because they had no luck in adopting her out because of her issues( which I have ran into here as well ). Please feel free to contact me if you can help. And to crosspost as well! Thank You! Lori and Ari Proud Army Wife to Daniel, Mom to Ben,Becca,Danni, and Nathan! Please help find this poor frightened cat a place to go. He was trapped at night, and the underpaid overworked short staffed ACO for Heard county got him before noon the very next day, but he was obviously frantic at being trapped, and did this damage to himself. He allows himself to be touched, so he is not feral. Just in need NOW.

At the South L.A. shelter on Friday, one of the RVTs asked me if I would groom a little dog which had just come in. This little girl had just been caught on the street by an officer, and was in the medical room.
The dog is the most adorable terrier--a norwich terrier/poodle lookalike--who is not only missing her right rear foot, her left back leg is deformed--possibly from an untreated break. She was also very emaciated, matted all over her body, and had one of the worst flea infestations I've seen at the shelter...and I've seen some awful ones.
I can hardly bear to think what a terrible life this darling girl had been subjected to that she ended up in this condition.
The first thing I did was shave off her mats. I was able to remove her coat almost in one piece quite quickly (thanx to Espree De-Tangler spray.) It came off like I was shaving a sheep.
Her flea infestation was so bad, I had to use undiluted organic flea shampoo, and shampooed her twice. You can see the blood oozing from the flea dirt in the attached photos. Even when I rinsed her, dead fleas were still stuck all over her body. All those black dots you can see on her body, head, face, etc., are all fleas.
All through this process, this baby was as good as gold. She was really cooperative all the way: cleaning her filthy ears, cutting her horribly overgrown nails were no problem. Despite all she's been through, she is really sweet and not scared of people.
She is just skin-and-bone. And with her disability affecting both back legs, she is going to need to find a really special home. Her impound number is A869998. She is 4 years old and not yet spayed. She is available on Wednesday, May 10th at 8am. *BUT PLEASE ONLY RESCUE HER IF YOU CAN PUT HER DIRECTLY INTO A FOSTER HOME AFTER HER INITIAL VET EXAM. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU PLAN TO PUT HER IN BOARDING, WITH ONLY A WEEKLY TRIP TO ADOPTIONS. THAT WOULD BE CRUEL. THIS LITTLE GIRL DESERVES TONS OF TLC, AND SHE NEEDS IT AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE! *South L.A. shelter Direct lines: 213-485-0117, 0119, 0227, or: 213-485-0303. May 5, 2007 12:53 PM Subject: Rudy the tiny fawn chihuahua left to die with mutiple factures in the front legs
Can you please croospost this poor Baby shouldn't have to die because his owners were cruel to him. Three weeks ago a 7 month old-5 LB Chihuahua was left and thrown into the Clay County ACC holding area. His two front legs have multiple fractures and breaks. He is alive but not for long. His legs were wrapped, but the damages is so bad, that for him to survive and walk, he will need multiple titanium plates and the surgery will cost at least $7,000. Clay ACC asked the media to cover the story to find out if anyone knew anything so we could go after the criminal who did this. Donations were asked too. Lots of money was sent for the same type of crime for a dog at the JAX Humane Society, but not one dollar was received at Clay. JAX received lots of donations. A group of surgeons are willing to sponsor him, but we need to raise at least $3,500 to cover just the cost of the materials. The rest will come.. Thank goodness for the humanitarian efforts of these Vets. Please Post nationwide and get the word out. All donations can be sent to the Town and Country Vet clinic in Oviedo. Their phone # is 407-365-3565 for credit card donations and mailing address is 1725 w. Broadway, Oviedo, Florida 32765. Further information can be emailed to us the sponsoring 501C rescue.
