Donations needed! Please help Kane, loving 10 MONTHS pit bull, nds surgery or will be euth'd.

Email yep6cats@aol.com with any questions.

Some of you may remember Kane,  the white pit bull I met at the shelter, being dumped by his person, Maria. Maria told me that Kane was suffering because he was having a hard time walking. She cried as she told me she wanted his suffering to end and that's why she was bringing him to the shelter. Sadly, a lot of people in the South Los Angeles area are naive about what goes on at the shelter. She thought they would vet her dog and then  find him a new home. I told her that the shelter does not have the resources to vet her dog. I told her that the dog must be held by law at the shelter for 5 days and that he would be terrified and sad, knowing he had been abandoned. She did not leave Kane at the shelter.

Maria is one of the few owners turning in a dog who actually cares, who actually wants help so she can keep her beloved dog.  She has had Kane since he was a puppy. Maria's friends are telling her "he is just a dog" but to Maria, he is her child.

A very kind person donated so that Kane could go to Dr. Olds, the BEST ortho vet, and get a proper diagnosis.  Kane has grade three luxating pattela--his knees pop in and out when he walks. The cost to correct both knees is $3200!  Maria has agreed to raise $500 to help her dog and I told her I would do my very best to raise the $2700 balance so that Kane can once again run and play like a normal young pup.

This seems like a huge amount to raise and I am praying for a miracle for him. If he does not have the surgery, Maria feels that Kane is suffering and she would rather euthanize him than let him continue to suffer and be sad.

If enough funds can be raised, the surgery will be done by Dr. Olds at Brentwood Pet Clinic. They no longer accept phone donations because they have been bought by a large corporation and are now not allowed to accept donations over the phone.

Donations of any amount to help Kane are greatly appreciated. To make a donation,  please visit his fund raising page at:

With gratitude,

Rita
