DESP NEEDS FUNDS FOR SURGERY!! -- NYC YOUNG COCKER GOES BLIND OVERNIGHT

Reply to: comm-426417430@craigslist.org   (at  craigslist.org)
Date: 2007-09-19, 10:21AM EDT

Please don't flag this, have a heart.......

Recently I posted the information below on Craigslist. Some people were kind and wished us good luck, some suggested organizations that help out, I contacted every single one but they were all out of funds. Some others suggested I look into Credit Care which I did but I'd have to pay an additional $2,000-$2,500 in interest above the initial $7,000 for the surgery and I can't do that, I'm not working and I'm dealing with some medical issues of my own but the rest were EXTREMELY CRUEL telling me that I shouldn't have a dog if I can't afford it.

I saved my little guy when he was 5 ½ months old. I didn't know that when I saved the little guy he had a UTI and Ear Infection but that didn't matter off he went to the vet immediately.

Between then and now he had another UTI (I think the original one didn't completely go away) numerous ear infections (cocker's are apparently prone) and he suffers from allergies and has had all kinds of tests thru an allergy specialist.

His food has been changed 8/9 times including prescription foods and me cooking for him and he's been on at least a dozen different meds, I also had him fixed.

All this in less than 2 years totaling over $2,500. I scrambled to get the money, even went and got him pet insurance of which I got back only $68 towards the bills.

Now before he turned 2 ½ he lost his sight and I was told the surgery and meds would be another $7,000+, that's approximately $10,000 in less than 2 years which is a enormous amount even to those who have money, and oh yes his insurance people tell me they're not covering it, so what good are they.

Could anyone afford this easily, does anyone expect that when they save a dog or cat they're going to have to lay out $10,000 in less than 2 years?

So why when I had to swallow my pride and ask for help which believe me isn't easy, why would people have to be so CRUEL and write me nasty emails?

If you can't help than just ignore my plea but don't add to my pain with nasty messages, or telling me I shouldn't have my little guy, or to dump him.

He's my little boy, I love him like crazy, he has a long life ahead of him and he deserves to enjoy life and see the world around him even if there are some very mean people in it.

I'm sorry for venting but it's beyond me how some people could be so cruel when they know someone is in so much pain.

If anyone out there can help please read the information below no money comes to me directly it goes into his account at
NYC VETERINARY SPECIALISTS CENTER,
410 W.55 St., New York, NY 10019 Attn: Dave Gersholowitz for PUPPALICIOUS WEIR #5848.
Thank you all for your patience.

Hi my name is "PUPPALICIOUS" I'm almost 2 1/2 years old.

For all of you who know me you know that aside from walking down the street talking to everyone, my favorite things to do are running with my friends, chasing after balls faster than my mommy can throw them and finding balls behind fences, in the mud, behind car wheels, in the snow, just anywhere and insisting mommy lets me bring them home.

I can't do that anymore, I lost my sight literally overnight in a 24-36 hour span, I went blind.

I can't run with my friends and I miss them so much I can barely walk down the street without scaring myself and banging into a tree or pole. I'm trying to keep my spirits up but mommy is really sad for me.

The doctors say they can perform surgery on both my eyes and there's a very good chance I'll get 90%+ back but there's a catch it's going to cost $7,000 plus follow-ups and mommy doesn't have that money with taking care of me and my two sisters and my brother.

People always tell mom that I'm a handsome little guy and I thought that maybe there might be some kind people out there who could help a little and take some pressure off of mom.

If you can there's a little fund for me at NYC Veterinary Specialists & Cancer Treatment Center, 410 West 55th St., New York, New York 10019.

Checks can be made out to NYC VETERINARY SPECIALISTS CENTER, mark the check for PUPPALICIOUS WEIR #5848. Put Attention to: Dave Gersholowitz on the envelope. Every penny counts so let me just say,

"I THANK YOU, MY SIBLINGS THANK YOU, MY MOMMY THANKS YOU".
May God Bless you and your little ones.

IA: Marshalltown. Redbone Hound abandoned, injured, young.

Maybe someone can help this young injured abandoned Redbone Hound who needs a home and LOVE. The contact is Karlene.

From: Karlene
Date: 9/24/2007 4:11:40 PM

Subject: red bone hound

A friend of mine's parents own a dog boarding place in Marshalltown. They have been left with a red bone hound, 1 year old male. They would like to keep him but don't have the money nor the space. The owner claims he is going to Iraq as a mercenary (not missionary). He got the dog at the shelter and after having him a couple of weeks, the dog got hit by a car. Someone taped the leg and so the bones never fused together, so the dog has a leg that just hangs. The man called and said for them to just take him to the shelter, that he didn't want him back. People love to pass off responsibility. Anyway, if a rescue takes the dog, it will no doubt be a large vet bill to "fix" the leg, if possible, or even amputate. I told her I would send out emails but not to be too hopeful.

This sweet liver colored Dal, came in as a stray from Liberal. In the pictures she looks black and white but when you see her in person you can defiantly tell that she is the brown and white. We think that she may be deaf or at least hard of hearing as she won't respond to any one when they talk to her or even snap their fingers by her ears, she will only respond if she sees you. She is very friendly and just loves having people around. Her adoption fee is $10.

L.A., CALIFORNIA -- Donations Needed for a kitten with broken femur bone !!

My name is Theresa Bergeman, and this stray kitten who I have been feeding lost her mother recently and got hit by a car and just got surgery on her broken femur bone.

She is about 3 months old, and she is recovering at Animal Medical Center of Southern California located at 2340 S. Sepulveda Blvd.
(310) 575-5655.

I am going to raise the kitten once she is out of the hospital.

The total cost is about $2500, most of which has been paid with my money along with a few donors in order to start the surgery, but being a college student I need help coming up with the rest, which totals $476.75.  If there is any way you could help me and the kitten, we would greatly appreciate it.

Any amount will help :)

Checks made out to "Animal Medical Center of L.A." can be mailed to my address:
Theresa Bergeman
350 E. Brett St.
Inglewood, CA 90302

For any questions, I can be contacted through e-mail at Theresa.Bergeman@gmail.com  at gmail.com
or by phone at (310) 908-2166.

Thank you for your kindness,
Theresa

Phoenix, AZ -- Deaf ACD mix w/3 good legs, thrown from car - needs placement

We have several dogs that have been in rescue for a year (or close to).

They each have their own story and unique needs. They are safe with New Hope Cattle Dogs in AZ, but really, really need their forever home. Zip is most in need:

Here is Zip's story. Zip came to us in Nov. of 06 after he was turned into a local emergency hospital. He has a lame foot that limits his movement from a previous injury that was not ever treated. Apparently, he had been thrown from a moving car when he was 3-4 months old and his rescuers never did anything to fix his foot, but instead turned around and turned him in 3 months later. We have had him checked out at several vets and it has been determined that he should have a $2200 surgery to attempt to fix his foot. Basically the vet thinks that the lameness appears to be coming from soft tissue damage where the ligaments/tendons were torn at the metacarpus joint and has frozen that joint into permanent hyperextension. It is unclear whether or not it can be fixed or not and with therapy following treatment will result in a vet bill of $3000. He seems to tire out on the leg if he is very active, but otherwise does just fine on it.

When he got to us, we found out he was also deaf. He is a VERY ACTIVE boy that desperately needs a J-O-B! He knows several hand signals and is very good in the house and in his crate. He is dog door trained, good w/ dogs, although does like to fancy himself as alpha dog. He LOVES to play with other dogs, but at his foster home now, the other dogs don't play with him much. His owner has a debilitating illness that causes her to need to sleep a lot. She is unable to provide him the exercise and stimulation that he needs and as a result he is acting up in the household. She is one of my long term fosters and has always been great with deaf dogs and dominant dogs, but is having a harder time lately. She really needs an easier dog, but is not willing to give up on Zip which I admire greatly.

He really needs more right now and is becoming sexually mature and testing the boundaries more and more. If he was able to get out and run and play, this would be hardly an issue. Is there anyone out there that can help us by providing a forever home or a long term foster home for Zip?

He really is a FABULOUS dog with typical ACD behaviors that can be fixed. If we can find a long term foster home, we will do the necessary fundraising to try and fix his foot and give him a second chance. At this point, we will consider foster homes in or out of AZ and will reduce his adoption fee by 50-75% for the right home.

If you would like to make a donation to Zip's cause, please go here: http://www.firstgiving.com/nhcd_zip

If you would like to foster Zip, please fill out a foster application at http://www.newhopecattledogs.com/fosterform.htm

If you would like to adopt Zip, please fill out an application at http://www.newhopecattledogs.com/adoption_form.htm

Blind kittens, MO. Need Homes

CONTACT LAURA,  laura.l.coe@gmail.com

I am in a situation and could use some advice. I found 3 feral male kittens that were appx 4 weeks old. The mother, who appeared healthy and was being fed by tenants of an apartment building, was nursing them, but the kittys were very very sick. I watched them for a week and then realized that if I didn't intervene, they would surely die. They had eye infections and couldn't see. They were walking around in a very dangerous place. I took them to a vet to get them some medicine. The vet told me he couldn't be sure if they would regain their vision or not. He wormed them, gave me eye meds, and oral meds and kmr and science diet canned food. I was vacationing at the time, but I followed the treatment plan exactly as the vet ordered. They responded well to the treatment, so I took them home and continued to care for them. Last week I took them to my vet. Sadly, two of the kittys will probably never see again. The third one recovered completely. These are beautiful, playful, healthy kittens. My vet tested for feline leukemia and the results were negative. I will keep the one that can see, but I can not keep the blind kittys. I have 4 children, 2 large cat hating dogs, and one small cat loving housedog. I would constantly be fearful that the kittys would get out a door left ajar, or the dogs would get in and injur them, or they would injur themselves on the things that get strewn about my house from the kid. If I take the kittys to the shelter, they will be put down. Do you know any resources that might help me find foster homes or adoptive homes for the blind ones? I really, really wish I could keep them, but my home just isn't suitable for a pet that can not see. They would make great pets and after all they've been through, I will make every effort to find them homes before resorting to the dog pound.I can't keep them forever and the sooner I get them in a stable home, the better. Their birthdate, according to the vet, is around July 5th. Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated. I live in Missouri. I would be will to drive them to a new home or arrange for them to get there, if one were to be found.  Oh-the one kitty does have a potential medical issue. One of his eyes was ruptured before I was able to rescue him. The vet said the eye may need to be removed but is ok for the time being.

Reply to: comm-422399931@craigslist.org  at craigslist.org

I have a 10 year old boxer that has all her life acted like a puppy until
recently. She has been diagnosed with lower back disc disease. It just
breaks my heart watching her drag her body across the floor, and It kills
more when she tries to hold herself up trying to go to the bathroom. I need
to know if anyone knows of a company out there that makes the carts at a
cheaper cost for those people that just don't have 3 or 4 hundred dollars
just lying around. I would do anything for my dog, she has so much life left
in her and she just seems so miserable. Can anyone help me?!!!

EMERGENCY - Greeneville, TN - DEAF, WHITE CAT IS STARVING, Needs someone to come feed him/her !!!

lhasaluvr@secludedhearts.org at secludedhearts.org

Please Crosspost to Cat Rescue Groups - I don't belong to any

About a year ago, a lady who lives next door to my ex husband was ordered to move out of her house. She is a cat hoarder and had more than a hundred cats at her home. The shelter came in and trapped the cats, euthanized them. One was left behind.

This is a deaf, white cat - I am not even sure if it is a male or female. But it's a nice cat and will come when you coax it. My ex husband lives next door to where the hoarder lived, and has fed the cat ever since it was left behind. His father is in the hospital here in MD and is dying. It's a very sad sitaution. Ex was just going to stay for a few days, so he left food and water out for the cat, but only enough for a few days. His father is in very bad shape and is not going to live. So my ex is staying here until he passes. But the cat needs help and needs help now,?and needs food. The cat has been without food for a week. I just found this out.

Is there anyone at all who can please go feed this cat? If a rescue can even take the cat and find it a good home, that would be even better. This cat is living outside. This is a rural area and there are a lot of coyotes. I don't want to call the pound there, the cat would never make it out alive and I am pretty sure they use gas.

If anyone is able to help, please contact me offlist and I will give you the information. I will be glad to paypal money for food.

Thanks so much,

Lynn

**** PLEASE CROSS-POST FAR & WIDE!!! ****

Hello, everybody. It's me again.

This one is a real heart-breaker. I just received
word that the owners of a beautiful, BLIND 16-YEAR OLD
CHOW dumped him yesterday at a high kill shelter in
Georgia (the Spaulding County Animal Control Shelter
in Griffin, GA); this shelter still uses the GAS CHAMBER!!

This poor old fella must be terrified! Can you imagine
how he must feel, after giving 16 years of love and
devotion, only to be dumped unceremoniously at a
horrible, strange, noisy pound where he must sleep,
day and night, on a cold concrete floor, with nobody
to love or comfort him? And then to ultimately
experience his last moments dying in a gas chamber,
never really knowing what had happened to him? It's
just too horrible.

Is there anyone out there who might be able to open
their heart and home to this beautiful, dignified
senior Chow boy? He deserves far better than a gas
chamber death.

Here is a link to his photo:

Spaulding shelter is (770) 467-4772. *** The shelter
is open M-F, from 10:00am-4:00pm EST.

Please, please hurry, as this sad boy's last day is
September 19 (next Wednesday). His I.D. number is

If need be, I can try to help you find transport for
him.

Mom and pups found a TEMPORARY foster Wed....still need permanent help for all dogs and
Immediate help for 2 blind males....ONE DAY LEFT!

PERSON COUNTY, NC-GASSING FACILITY-NO MERCY FOR BLIND DOGS WILL BE SHOWN!

Owner evicted - 2 blind adult males and 1 blind adult female (nursing 3 puppies that were born on August 8th) - Australian Shepherd mixes need rescue BEFORE SEPT. 14th or they will be taken to our local shelter and euthanized.  The animal shelter in this county does not make any "special needs" animals available for adoption or even rescue.  If they are taken there they will be immediately euthanized.  PLEASE HELP!   Here are some details:

Some time ago you received a plea from me for 4 blind and deaf little aussie mix puppies, and many of you sent offers to help (all 4 are now living happily ever after in their forever homes, thanks to your many crossposts and emails).  The female (now with new litter) and one of the males are the parents of those puppies.  Mom has since been living tied to a tree, and the two males are in a pen and getting no attention at all...just the basics - food, water, and a small dog house for shelter.

Owner has now been evicted and the animals must go.  He does not want them euthanized and has asked me to try and get them to a rescue.  His property must be cleaned out and all dogs must be gone by Friday, September 14th.

The dogs:  Mom (named "Girlie")  is blind and around 4 years old (they think).  According to the owner, her 4-week old puppies are not blind (they were fathered by a lab/hound mix...they think).  She is very shy, but seems very gentle.
The two males are also blind and approx. 3 years old (Girlie is their mother).  The two males have been living together in a pen and are very shy but not aggressive.

The males are not neutered (and obviously Girlie is not spayed).  They have had no vet care to date, but I am willing to pay for vaccinations for all 6 if necessary, if there is a rescue out there who can take them, or even if there is a foster home out there so that it buys us more time to look for a rescue.

Photos of the adults are attached - I hope to go out and get photos of the puppies this weekend and can forward them if anyone needs them.  If you are on digest and are unable to see the photos, please email me and I will gladly send them to you individually.

Please - if you can help or know any rescue or any person who might, please forward this email or contact me at  photobycd@yahoo.com.

Thank you.

Safe Haven of Iowa County is a limited admission facility based out
of the Williamsburg Iowa area. We are the only animal shelter in our
county. We are all volunteers and have no full time staff at the
shelter.

We had a stray mother come in on Sept 7 who has no use of her back
legs and is due with kittens the last week of September based on x-
rays taken. She is incontinent and due to the paralysis will require
emergency C-Section. The X-rays revealed no injuries so it is hard
to know if she will ever get the use of her legs back.

We need help! We don't have full time staff and foster homes are
rare. We are looking for help from other people to ensure that she
is safe and can get the emergency care that she needs.

If you can help us place her in a foster home, animal sanctuary or
with fundraising efforts etc. Please contact me
rinthea@wesavepets.com
Her medical bills have totalled over 1,000.00 so far and emergency C-
Section will be another 1,000.00 in addition to trying to build a
suitable area for her.

We really want to get her into a sanctuary environment with full
time staff so if you know of any resources for us PLEASE help us
save her!

Notes: Although only one of these little ones can be seen well in this picture, take our word for it, they are both heartbreaking. Both are quite old and appear to be blind. This is no place for these sweet angels to have to spend their final days. Please come and rescue them before their time is up. All animals adopted from Clayton Co Animal Control must be spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption. A low cost spay/neuter certificate will be issued at the time of adoption.

URGENT! Roxboro, NC 3 blind Aussie mixes + 3 nursing pups need rescue

CONTACT INFO:  photobycd@yahoo.com

***PLEASE CROSSPOST ***

If you are unable to see the photos, please email me and I will gladly send them to you individually.

Please - if you can help or know any rescue or any person who might, please forward this email or contact me at  photobycd@yahoo.com.

Thank you.

Fw: Australian Cattle Dog puppy - injured - needs home and surgery

CONTACT PERSONrosiemauzy@yahoo.com

Maybe you can help some how. I rescued a Red ACD puppy she is about
4 or 5 months old. The owner was going to put the pup to sleep,
stating that his children were afraid of the puppy. To make a long
story short I received the puppy on Saturday August 25,2007 notice
the puppy had a limp in her right rear leg. Took the puppy to the
vet on Monday August 27,2007 only to find out that the puppy has a
bone chip in the knee area that was displaced and it will required
surgery. 1. I took on the puppy with the intentions of finding her a
new home ( I have a 10 month old lab of my own). 2. I can't afford
the cost of the surgery ( was told it could cost from anywhere from
$2500.00 to $5000.00 for the surgery). The puppy is very friendly
and loveable. The owner told me the puppy was house trained - I
don't think so. I don't think much time was spent with the puppy.
Again she is a sweet heart. She is good with my children and my
dog. I was just wondering if you know of anyone wanting this puppy
and willing to take this added expense. I have tried my hardest to
find her a new home but have been unsuccessful - I will have to
turn her over to the local humane society in the near future.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you know of any one
wanting her. I have pictures and I have contacted shelters but had
no luck. We live Maryland. Thanks in advance for any assistances you
may have.

Smokey FIV+ cat for adoption in Connecticut

Please contact Castaway Cats in CT, 203-924-4781 or jodi@castawaycats.com
Smokey is a sleek, beautiful pewter gray kitty who looks similar to a Turkish Van or Angora with the color of a Russian Blue.  He has silky soft short-medium length fur with a fluffy tail.  He's a 2 year old neutered male who is so very sweet and loving.  He is very healthy, but has tested postive for FIV -- so he needs a home either as an only cat or with another FIV positive cat.  Cats who test positive for FIV can easily live out a cat's normal lifespan with little or no complications.   .

Fluffy is a gorgeous 3 year old gray tabby who looks similar to a Maine Coon Cat.  He's a neutered male with thick, medium-length fur and a fluffy tail.  He is very healthy, but has tested positive for FIV -- so he needs a home either as an only cat or with another FIV positive cat.  Cats who test positive for FIV can easily live out a cat's normal lifespan with little or no complications.
Fluffy hates dogs, so would do best in a dog-free household.  He is extremely friendly and affectionate, but can also be sassy and fresh, so we recommend him for an adult-only household.

DC Area, FELV+ cat needs home

CROSSPOSTING, Contact info below:

 Wendy Sue lazyneko@cox.net

I'm still desperately trying to find a place for a FELV+ stray. He's been
vetted, neutered and is so sweet that I'd hate for him to go to a refuge. He's
definitely a house cat and purrs nonstop when being petted.

He's being kept in a 2.5'x2.5'x2. Enough room for food and litter, but not
much else. He's getting
increasingly unhappy and it's not right for him to have to stay there. Can't
keep him at my place as there is just no spare room to house him away from my
own cats in my townhouse.

Please, can't someone help make this kitty happy?

Hello All,

The other paralyzed dachie, Mattie, found a rescue, now we have Parker
that needs a place to go. Carolyn called me this morning, and Parker is
still in need. I'm sending this to a number of groups and people in
case someone knows someone that can assist.

He is estimated to be 4 years old/ 12 pounds/ red/ smooth/ unaltered.

This is a small rural clinic without the resources for a mylogram or
neurosurgical evaluation. They did an x-ray which showed trauma in L5-6
and L6-7. He showed no deep pain sensation and is incontinent. He has
had Dexamethasone injections, August 10th-16th, and has showed no signs
of pain at all. They are sling-walking him, and he is happy and
friendly.

The contact is Carolyn, Saxony Animal Clinic, Sarver PA 16055,

Gaston County NC, Brain damaged dog Daphne needs a special home

CONTACT PERSON:  JPDavis@jmdlaw.com

"SPECIAL NEEDS" LAB "DAPHNE" INFORMATION:

Please read the message below and forward to any contacts you have that might be appropriate placements for what has turned out to be a "special needs" pet.  "Daphne" was hit by a bus and left for dead in the middle of the road in Gaston County in October, 2006.   A kind woman stopped and rescued Daphne, whose leg was broken so bad it almost had to be amputated.  A wonderful adoptive family took her in and spent much time and money helping to rehabilitate Daphne physically, but there has been some brain damage from the accident, and they feel Daphne needs a different environment to truly be able to live out her life happily.  Please read the message below, and if you can help, contact JPDavis@jmdlaw.com

I adopted a little black lab with a broken leg, who we named Daphne (see above), back in November of 2006. As much as it pains me to do so, I'm writing now to ask for your help in finding a new home for Daphne.

What no one knew when we adopted Daphne, or could have known, is that she suffered significant brain damage when she was struck by a car last October. We have since realized that much of her gentle behavior during the time she was with the person who rescued her was probably due to the intense pain she was under from her broken leg. We saw indications of her problems while she was healing, but ascribed it all to her being caged constantly. Unfortunately, we have come to realize that this wasn't entirely the case. We tried to train her with some of the best trainers in Charlotte, but with poor results. Ultimately, we took her to a neurologist who confirmed that her problems are physiological in nature and unlikely to be cured. Because of her special problems, Daphne needs a very special home that can take good care of her.

The perfect home for Daphne would be someone who lives in a rural area, who is athletic and capable of wearing her out, and who can put in some serious training time on a daily basis. She is very affectionate and craves human contact, but has difficulty figuring out what "appropriate" is. She is spayed and in great health, weighs about 45 lbs and is two years old (we think). Anyone who takes her needs to be aware that she is "special needs" and be prepared to deal with it, which is one reason we are asking for your help in looking for a new home.

Daphne's brain damage has two major effects (and many bizarre and interesting minor ones): First, she gets agitated very easily by any kind of stimulus (from loud noises to human presence), and when she does, she obsessively spins in circles. These spins can vary from large loops around the yard to incredibly tight circles and wild barking when she gets extremely excited. Second, and far more problematic, she is essentially untrainable. She knows how to sit, but we believe she may have learned this before the accident. Beyond that, she can only learn any kind of behavior with an extraordinary amount of effort, and anything learned is quickly forgotten, whether in hours, or days, regardless of how well she is reinforced. She simply can't retain anything. This is especially problematic because Daphne has a very strong impulse to play-bite. While we've managed to lower the frequency of these bites, we have been unable to get rid of them entirely, and you can never be sure when she'll do it. For that reason, she would not be good with children.

Daphne is a sweet and loving dog, but her inability to learn coupled with her high excitability makes her very difficult to handle. That said, I believe she can be trained to behave herself, and possibly even beyond-- at one point she learned to heel for nearly a week-- but it will take alot of attention and patience, and acceptance of the fact that one day she may wake up and everything's she's learned will just be gone and need to be relearned from scratch. Also, we have taken her to the mountains on several occasions, and she gets along much better in that environment. One of the reasons we have decided to give her away is because we believe the city (suburbs) is just too high-anxiety for her.  In a rural, low-distraction environment with alot of attention, I believe she could be a very good dog.

Please let me know if you know of anywhere we can look to find a place for Daphne. What she really needs is someone who has experience in dealing with brain-damage in an animal, and we simply don't know where to begin to look. Both doctors and trainers have suggested putting her down because of the difficulty in dealing with her, but we are convinced that she could be very happy in the right environment. We will keep her and care for her until we can find another home, because we love her very much, but I think she would be much better off away from the city and with owners who can devote substantially more time to her than we can.  J.P. Davis

Impound 896658, 3 months female pup

Poor little girl is shy,  sad and scared.  Who can blame her??

She was scared to look at me and turned her face towards the back of her cage and then timidly looked over her shoulder at me.  She warmed up and became sweet when I pet her.

She is a stray available on August 31.  Most certainly a dead pup without a rescue lined up for her.

DONATION NEEDED! Ca- GSD Pup named Fresno shot and left in ditch beaten in immediate danger

Please forward and cross post...a life is hanging in the balance

Fresno is a German Sheperd Dog.  He is a puppy. He was found in a ditch in CA.

If you can even imagine the suffering of a pup laying in a ditch for three days with a broken body, you will want to help Fresno.  Not only did he have broken bones, he had also been shot.

Two rescues are in collaboration to get Fresno the help he needs.  Oregon German Sheperd Rescue and Indigo Rescue.

Fresno has been flown to Oregon and is now in the hospital awaiting surgery.

Surgery has to happen today.  The estimate for surgery is $3612.  IMOM has pledged $500 from emergency funds.  Please help us to quickly raise $3112.

VA-special needs senior cat needs new home-he has only 3 legs, name is "Curtis Brown"

CONTACT: Sandra Charles sandramcharles@yahoo.com
703-477-5662

I'm hoping to find a great home for my cat. His name is Curtis Brown, he's around 8-9 years old and has 3 legs. I've had him for 7 years, and I love him a lot, but I'm moving and I can't afford to take him with me. He's very sweet, loves to cuddle, and enjoys to be petted and brushed. His favorite is being scratched behind his ear, because he can't reach that side since he's missing his back leg. He cannot live with a dog, but should be fine with another cat.

Please email me at sandramcharles@yahoo.com or call me at 703-477-5662 if you would like to meet him.

Family moving FRIDAY! BLIND 9 YR old SPAYED poodle/tzu needs home; photos attached,

PLEASE CROSS POST - This little BLIND girl _MUST _be gone by Saturday
morning!!! They are moving to Florida and can't take her!

Blind dogs see with their heart....

Maggie did have a rescue but it fell through and now she has no where to go
and only a few days to find a rescue or a new home. She MUST be out by
August 31st!! Maggie has become accustomed to her blindness and gets
around well. Blindness is not the tragedy for dogs that it is for humans.
She will just need some orientation to her new home, some assistance
getting in and out to potty until she learns the route and some
understanding since she has to live in a new place and it will be strange
to her. The Blind Dogs Group at Yahoo is _very _supportive and can help
with questions and problems. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/blinddogs

I need to place my Maggie by Friday August 31st. We thought had found a
home, but it fell through.
Maggie is a loving dog and she gets around even though she is blind. She
was diagnosed a few years ago, and there was nothing to do for her
blindness. She is blind from PRA Progressive Retinal Atrophy, a painless
gradual blindness that is untreatable. There will be _*no *_expensive eye
vet charges -- she isn't in pain and needs no special care.
http://www.animaleyecare.net/diseases/pra.htm

Birthdate 1/26/98 9 years old
She is up to date on her shots and spayed
She is housebroken
She is blind
She weights about 13 lbs.
She is a black and white mixed Poodle/Chihuahua (Shih tzu more likely)
She gets along with other dogs and cats

I have attached a recent photo of Maggie.

I hope you can help me with her placement.

Sincerely

Bill Athan

I cannot see you Mommy, when you cuddle me so near.
And yet I know you love me, it's in the words I hear.
I cannot see you Daddy, when you hold me by your side
But still I know you love me when you tell me so with pride.
I cannot see to run and play out in the sun so bright
For here inside my tiny head it's always dark as night.
I cannot see the treats you give when I am extra good
But I can wag my tail in Thanks just like a good dog should.
"She cannot see. The dogs no good" is what some folks might say
"She can't be trained, she'll never learn She must be put away."
But not you, Mom and Daddy You know that it's alright
Because I love you just as much as any dog with sight.
You took me in, you gave me love and we will never part
Because I'm blind with just my eyes, I see you in my heart.*

Fremont, OH - Partially paralyzed Pom LOOKING FOR FOREVER HOME!

Partially paralyzed Pom
LOOKING FOR FOREVER HOME!

My name is Mandie and I am a young Pomeranian.
The breeder told my prior owners that when I was a young puppy the first human who adopted me sat on my hind legs and left them partially paralyzed.

My second owners took me to the Humane Society of Sandusky County because they are moving to a new home where they can no longer keep me.

I would probably do really well with a cart.

They wrote a note about me for my new family, if I am lucky enough to find one, about my medical history and my likes and dislikes. I love fabric squeak toys and sleeping in beds. I can walk pretty good and move quicker than you might think I can, but my legs tend to drag behind me. I am housetrained and will do circles at your door to let you know when it is time. I would make a great companion for someone who is willing to work with my special needs and love me.

I can't catch a Frisbee but I can give kisses!

S.P.A. has offered to help find me the kind of home that I deserve. This time, a FOREVER home where someone won't give me up because they are moving.

Please fill out an S.P.A. application at:
if you think you'd like to make me a
permanent a member of your family.

You'll be adopting me from the Humane Society,
but S.P.A. wants to make sure
that it is a PERFECT FAMILY who adopts me!

Maggie is a loving dog and she gets around even though she is blind.  She was diagnosed a few years ago, and there was nothing to do for her blindness.  She is blind from PRA Progressive Retinal Atrophy, a painless gradual blindness that is untreatable.  There will be no expensive eye vet charges -- she isn't in pain and needs no special care.   http://www.animaleyecare.net/diseases/pra.htm

Birthdate 1/26/98   9 years old
She is up to date on her shots and spayed
She is housebroken
She is blind
She weights about 13 lbs.
She is a black and white mixed Poodle/Chihuahua (Shih tzu more likely)
She gets along with other dogs and cats

I hope you can help me with her placement.

Sincerely

Bill Athan

VT - Special Needs Cat - needs inexpensive medication for life - needs home ASAP

CONTACT: Emily Pike at 802-793-5044

I was contacted today by a lady that is moving to an apartment that does not allow cats. She had 3 cats, and has found two of them homes already, but is having trouble placing this last cat because he requires a once a day dose of Lactulose for the rest of his life due to bowel issues, to keep him from impacting (becoming constipated). He's UTD on all vet work, very healthy, sweet, GREAT with kids. His ONLY special requirement is a daily dose of this very inexpensive medication, which he takes easily (it's a liquid). He's a 7 years old neutered male, and is a brown/grey tabby with a white spot on his neck, owner says he's very big. MUST BE PLACED BY THIS WEEKEND 09/02/07! Please help! Owner can transport up to an hour from northern/central Vermont, further transport can possibly be arranged. Cat may be euthanised if not placed by this weekend, as owner must be out of old location by Sunday, September 2nd. Owner very distraught, loves this cat, sincerely wants to find him a home! Picture available soon. Please contact Emily Pike at 802-793-5044.

In search of DEAF DOG, Nice adopter wants deaf pitbull!!

Hi,
My name is Kim Thompson and I am the shelter manager at the Butte Humane
Society. We had a nice deaf pitbull that was adopted, but a VERY nice girl
came in after he was already placed because she was told he was still
here. She is an excellent adopter, and because she drove three hours, and
she would be a wonderful home for a dog, I told her I would try and find a
dog for her.
She really wants a deaf pitbull that's 50lbs or smaller. She loves white
dogs, and really just wants to help out a deaf dog. She is knowledgeable
and really eager to take care of a dog. She will consider ANY deaf dogs,
age is not important. If you think you know of a deaf dog let me know.
Search your shelters! Lets save someone today. If you have another type of
special needs, please email those as well. Please spread this email
around, and lets help save a deaf or special needs dog. I can help with
transport and she can adopt him through our shelter or refer her to an
organization.

Dear Fellow Rescue Workers -

My name is Heather and I am the Rescue Coordinator for Camden
County Animal Shelter.  I am desperately seeking help for a little
girl named Peanut!

Peanut was found by an Animal Control Officer in Camden, back legs
paralyzed,
scratching to get into the door of the crack house where she
was living.  Animal Control took her to the emergency vet where she has
been ever since.  Unfortunately, they have done all they can for Peanut.
Her paralysis is unable to be corrected and she does not have use of her
bowels - She must be expelled, like a puppy.

They are guessing Peanut is about five years old, but she could be
younger and have had such a bad diet that her teeth make her appear
five.  She is a very happy little girl and the wonderful folks at the
hospital made her a cart and she gets around great!
  She is very much
full of life!

We are unable to take Peanut to our Shelter.  We simply don't have the
resources to give her the care and attention that she needs.  The
hospital can no longer keep her and we have until Labor Day to find a
place for her.  They won't be able to give us an extension on that
time frame.

We don't have very much time to try and save this girl!  When the
hospital contacted me, my heart broke, and I am trying everything
possible to save her from euthanasia.  Please, if you cannot help Peanut
yourself, cross-post this story and her pretty pictures!
  All medical
records will be made available and my contact at the hospital will be
happy to answer any questions.
  I can be reached at
CamCoShelter@yahoo.com (@yahoo.com)  and I check E-mail extremely frequently.

Thank you for caring about Peanut and all you do for the dogs!

Paralyzed  DOG for   A D O P T I O

7 year old female, Beagle with paralysis of her back legs walks with a "wheeled cart" needs to find a loving home......

"Miss Haley" has been residing at "Allied Services" in Scranton in  the "assisted living section"

But...she can no longer stay there because of "Infection Control Issues" and the changing of state rules and regulations

"Haley" is a sweet girl full of "Spit and Vinegar"
She is friendly and loving, gets along well with other dogs and is quite the energetic lady.....

         Needless to say .............
"Miss Haley's" disability does Not hold her back from enjoying life!    "Haley" certainly does "get around"......

Although "Haley" wears diapers during the daytime when she is busily running in her cart, her care can be involved, but yet "Extremly Rewarding"

At night, "Haley" sleeps well in her crate and can weight bear to a minimum extent!

You can learn more about this sweet girl by calling "Me" (Denise) at "Pet Services"

              (570) 457-1625

ALL prospective adoptive families for "Haley" will be screened thoroughly BEFORE and AFTER adoption... "Pet Services by Denise" will arrange for "Haley" to make periodic "therapy" visits to the residents at "Allied Services" and will make home inspections periodically for approximately 2 years after the adoption is final.......

 Thank You from
  Denise  and The..........
