NY amputee kitty with no eyelids needs help!

AMPUTEE KITTY NEEDS RESCUE NY

My name is PHILLY.  I am a very special kitten. I am a female, just about one year old. I'm long haired, all black and very loving. When I was brought to the shelter I had something tied so tight around my front leg that it had to be amputated. The vet did an excellent job with the surgery and once the hair grows back you will never be able to tell that I wasn't born this way. I am getting around very well and other wise I am in perfect health. I have already been spayed and vaccinated.  Won't you be that special person to give me a wonderful life?

ST. PATTY: $2000 Needed for Surgery for kitten born without eyelids

FURREVER FRIENDS RESCUE & VOLUNTEERS, INC.

Woodbury, NJ  08096

Found in the aftermath of our region's treacherous February ice storm, a kind couple delivered St. Patty, a young cat, to FFRV's care in the hopes that we could possibly help save her life. Terribly ill, dehydrated, and stressed, St. Patty required immediate attention, which resulted in the diagnoses of an upper respiratory infection and a deformity of her eyelids.  A follow-up vet exam made the gruesome discovery that St. Patty was born without eyelids.

This very painful congenital condition, called eyelid atresia, causes the fur to constantly rub on the cornea (the highly sensitive covering of the eyeball), leaving the animal in constant excruciating pain and leading them toward eventual blindness. If left uncorrected, most of those affected just keep their eyes closed at all times.

Dr. John Vinciguerra of Tri-County Veterinary Hospital in Pilesgrove Township, NJ insisted that the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (VHUP)s newest treatments were the best option for this kitty.   With the kind assistance of VHUP ophthalmologist Dr. Andras Komaromy, FFRV was offered a generous 50% discount off the two surgeries needed to save St. Patty's sight.  But that still leaves FFRV needing $2000 to help the eight-month- ol d feline.  Surgery is scheduled for May 15, 2007.

Furrever Friends Rescue and Volunteers, Inc. (FFRV) is a small, all-volunteer run nonprofit group that relies solely on donations to help homeless animals.  FFRV does NOT have the funding available for this surgery, and are dependent on help from the public! Donations are sought, no matter how small, in order to compile the entire amount needed to proceed with this very necessary treatment. The sooner the surgery is completed, the sooner St. Patty will be able to see and enjoy her surroundings in comfort.  She will need a forever home after her recovery.  *END*

SOUTH LA CA Della, sweet, petite BLIND Pit Bull at South LA Shelter

Please email yep6cats@aol.com if you are able to help.

"Della". Impound A864907, 3 year female pit bull

The shelter is scary enough for a dog with sight, I can only imagine how terrifying the roar of dogs barking and fighting is to a dog who cannot see. Della has been sitting in a cage in isolation for 20 days, all by herself. She must be so scared, sad and lonely.

Della is adorable inside and out.  SHE IS ALL LOVE. She walked out of her cage when Tomika called her and crawled onto her lap. She rubbed her face all over Tomika and Della had the sweetest, happiest little expression on her face. I would not have known that this dog was blind and wonder if she sees at least shadows.

She does not appear to have been mistreated, she definitely LOVES and seems to trust people. She was caught as a stray--imagine roaming the streets blind!!  She has waited 20 long days, alone in her dark world,  waiting for her person to find her but nobody has come.

She is a very dear little dog and very easy to fall in love with.  I hope somebody can save her. She is sitting in her cage waiting....

NY - EMERGENCY - SERIOUSLY INJURED PUPPY WILL DIE WITHOUT OUR HELP! - PLEASE HELP!

This 5 month old ACD was found, in the woods, near my home, by some "Spring turkey hunters".

They brought her to local dog control.  At that time she could not stand and could barely breathe.  Dog Control took her to the Vet,where hope was all but lost.  The Vet said her chances were, "slim to none".

This baby had what appeared to be a hematoma on her chest and a serious wound on her hind quarters. Her breathing was raspy and labored. She was near DEATH and no hope for her surviving the night was given.  The vet put her on IV fluids and antibiotics, in an INCUBATER, (with oxygen), still, without hope.

However, this morning, she was still alive !! The Vet did some Xrays(without anesthisia,as THAT would have killed her) and found that this baby has two broken ribs,a punctured lung and her stomach is full of gravel and dirt.

We all know that Dog Control(township) "politics"(State mandates) will NOT pay to save this baby girl. However, the Dog Control Officer, that took this baby in, would desperately love to save her life.(but has NO funds to do so)

To IMAGINE what this poor baby has been through in her short life, terrifies even ME!!  The hematoma on her chest, is AIR, escaping out of her punctured lung, into her skin. Vet said he had NEVER seen anything like it.  The wound on her hindquarters is a BITE wound, where "something in the woods" tried to eat her.(thinking she was already dead).....

Right now, after 24 hours, the Vet has HOPE....prognosis is GOOD....for her to heal. BUT...... The local township will NOT pay for the "life-saving" procedures that are needed for this baby to ever "see" a better life than she has had. They would "opt" to have her PTS.

PLEASE HELP ME HELP THIS BABY....
I have a local foster who can take her, once she is able to leave the Vet Hospital..... BUT, until then, she NEEDS $$  for her survival.

THIS IS A CROSS POST!   PLEASE SEND TO APPROPRIATE LISTS

*CONTACT IS NANCY AT SARAH, INC. AT: tonik@optonline.net  (@optonline.net)
or call: 203-377-0826.

This boy has been pulled from a shelter, so that not to end his short life, but he needs a commitment from a rescue to neuter, get him a cart, and a forever home.  I am overfull, and cannot put a male in my male sensitive pack, and do not want to kennel him, but will if I have to.  He can be transported to an approved home or rescue in the Northeast and as far south as VA.

His name is Corky.  He is no more than a year old and is an absolute doll.  Picture can be forwarded.

This is what the shelter manager said about him.

How much does he weigh? 15 lbs maybe a little more.
Does he have bladder control?  yes
Pictures of the legs? will be very hard to do..they are permanently bent.
What was done shot wise?  da2ppv, bordetella and deworm with drontal.
Temperament? WONDERFUL

Any other cute things about him, he is a great, happy little guy, he really should be looked at by a specialist.  You never know, maybe he could be fixed.

Payson Arizona- Three Legged Hound Mix in need of loving home.. Please Cr...

Please Crosspost.. Lets Get This Boy a Loving Home He Surely Deserves!!

H. R. is an 8-month old neutered male hound mix. He was brought to our shelter as the result of a car accident in which he suffered a broken hind leg that had to be amputated. Many shelters would have euthanized him on the spot, but he is such a sweet-natured dog that we believe he has great potential to be a fine companion for an older person or a disabled person who wouldn't mind that he is a tripod dog. He is very gentle, not very big and does not jump up on you. He is a quiet, well behaved little boy and he loves to be doted on. H. R. originally stood for "hit and run," but now it stands for "hero," which is what this brave little dog is.

Tiny is a special cat with a wonderful cattitude. He came to our shelter blind, but does seem to get around rather well in spite of his disability. He is not too sure about being around new cats or dogs, but in the right circumstances I am sure that he would be fine. Because Tiny is blind and declawed he must be an indoor cat only!

Paralyzed kitten needs adoption or she'll be put to sleep.

This is from the URGENT section of HandicappedPets Rescue Forum. The
cat is located in New Jersey and this is her mom's post:

If anyone has read the paralyzed pets section than you know of my
kitten Bast. She was paralyzed in a pull out couch and I thought I
would be able to take care of her, but with school and work and no
help from parents it's becoming impossible. The person who said they
would help me isn't and it isn't fair to Bast, and they are
threatening to put her to sleep and I'm not going to let this.
Therefore she needs adoption as soon as possible and within the next
7 days. We are located in Manchester, NJ right outside of Toms River,
NJ in Ocean County. She is wonderful loving cat who needs a lot of
attention, she's only about 7 months old. She's doesn't have a broken
spine just nerve damage, she wears diapers and rarely needs her
bladder expressed, she can go on her own. Due to the fact that I am
no here most of the time and no one in this house is willing to help,
her bottom has become a little raw and needs extra attention for it.
I wish things had turned out better with me and her but I will not
let her life be taken on my accord, she is a wonderful companion and
I trust I will find her a home through this website. My name is
Heather and you can contace me at : 732-904-0754.

VERY URGENT! - VA - SENIOR DACHSHUND IS DESPERATE!!! Senior Doxie in an empty feces covered house!

*Crosspost* I got a call today from Fredericksburg ASPCA who told me that
there is a senior Doxie in an empty house in the area. Her owner was taken
to a long term care facility and will not be back home again. Her animals
were left behind alone and no family to take them in. ASPCA went to the
house on the prompting of neighbors but when they got there they only
removed the cats she had and said the Doxie looked too old and left her
behind. They have an age limit of 9 and past this they will not take dogs.
They said they have tried calling every rescue they could find and no luck
getting her help.

They happened to catch me at lunch but I work full time all week and am 2
1/2 to 3 hours from there so we are looking for heeeeelp!!! I have 10 here
now and 4 already on my intake waiting list and one special needs liver
surgery case this week but I will find a foster home for her if someone can
help rescue her. When the ASPCA officers where there they said she had some
food but no water at all and the house is covered with urine and feces.

The officers talked to the owner's family, and they want nothing to do with
the dog, and believe the ASPCA should clean up the mess in the house.. huh??

This sweet senior needs help!! She does not deserve to be left alone and in
her own filth.

*If anyone can help please call me on my cell: 804- 690-2361, or call
Melissa at the Fredericksburg, VA SPCA. 540- 373-9008.

bowling green,KY++++ Amputee Kentucky Dutch in Dire Need of Donations and Home

Hi, my name is Dutch and I'm a very sweet boy, which is why I don't quite understand How All This Could Happen to me. I was brought to the shelter as a stray but the shelter thought that the man who brought me in was my owner because he kept changing his story. I was rushed into surgery that cost the shelter $500 and now they are turning to you to help them HELP ME! I had an elastic bandage on my leg that wasn't removed and it almost severed my leg off, I had no muscle mass in my leg and couldn't use it at all. It hurt so bad! Shelter staff was scared that I might not make it through surgery, but I did. How could I give up on those who were NOT going to give up on me? I hope you can help pay my medical bills so that if another animal comes in the shelter can help them too in the same way they have helped me. I'm up for adoption now, getting along great w/ 3 legs and I'm so sweet.

I hope to find a family that will love me because I've never really been loved before.
