6lb apricot poodle with BROKEN JAW and NO TEETH!

CROSSPOST FAR AND WIDE!!!~

Please help us help Maxine: We need to raise money to fix her broken Jaw.

Little Maxine, a purebred apricot poodle who weighs just 6 pounds, needs your help.

Maxine has spent her whole life (6 years) living in misery at a puppy mill in Kansas where she was bred over and over and over.  She knew no love, no happiness, and every time she had puppies to love they were whisked away to be sold at pet stores.  After 6 years of Breeding, her puppies were no longer small enough for him and choose to euthanize her, but a pet shop owner in LA decided to take her in. When she arrived, she had an infection in her mouth and for some reason the vet stuck the plastic end of a syringe into her neck to drain the infection.  We were in shock when we saw the cut-off syringe sticking out of her neck.  We rushed her to our own vet who gave us sad news -- Maxine's jaw is broken, she's been living in horrible pain, and she needs surgery.  The vet removed the syringe, cut away the dead tissue, stitched up the hole and treated Maxine's infection and pain.

We all hear sad stories every day, it's the unfortunate price of working so hard to rescue dogs who need us.  But sometimes we hear a story so tragic that it's staggering.  That's how we feel about Maxine.

It will cost us almost $1500 to completely treat her and get her better. They have removed all her teeth because it was in such bad shape due to the years of neglect.

Every little bit counts... If you can make a contribution towards Maxine's care please go to :

www.thumpingtails.org and click on DONATIONS and pay via Paypal or you can send a check to :

Thumping Tails Animal Rescue
P.O. Box 291658
Los Angeles, CA 90027

Please note on the check that the donation is for Maxine.

We thank you in advance for any help you can offer! Thank you

Flo and Maxine

Neutered Deaf Dog in Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX needs a home.

I am trying to find someone to take a dog that I found about a week ago.  My neighbor first found the dog with a blind cord wrapped around his neck. He cut the cord and started feeding the dog outside. He said he was reluctant to call animal control for fear they would put him to sleep. He is a very good dog. But he is deaf. I noticed him outside my apartment, panting so I went outside to take him some water and his back was towards me. I whistled and called to him but he never turned around. He walked in the middle of the street and just stood there. I had to get in front of him where he could see me, then he followed me to my apt. I've had him here for about 5 days and he is certainly deaf. He is a mixed breed, medium size, red & white. He has been neutered and despite being deaf is a very good dog. I have a 2 1/2 year old son who he is very gentle with. If I'm asleep and he needs to go out h nudges my bed until I wake up. So he is house trained.
I worked for a Veterinarian for 8 years and my mother runs the humane society in Little Rock , Ar. So being an animal lover I hate to see this dog put down. He is very sweet. My apartment complex does not allow pets but after meeting him the manager has agreed to let him stay until I can find someone to take him. She walks him during the day when I am at work.
I know nothing about his medical history only his personality. My guess is that a man abused him because he is a little more cautious of men. Women he goes up to with no hesitation, tail wagging.
If you can help please e-mail me or feel free to call me at

Sean Casey Animal Rescue would like to introduce two very special pets who are in need of loving homes....

Sweet Maggie is a 4 month old Beagle who came to us with a severe leg injury caused by rubber bands being twisted around her leg. Unfortunately the blood supply was cut off and there was nothing the doctors could do to save her leg. She gets around just fine but she wants and needs a home and family of her own.

Tristan is a one year old Domestic Shorthair who was left outside the Brooklyn CACC on a towel. Sean was going to pick up some animals and he saw the towel on the ground, but it was just a towel...no one was near it. Sohe started looking around and found Tristan hiding in the shadows, his leg broken! Sean brought him home that night and took him to the vet the next morning where they determined that his injury could not be repaired and Tristan had to lose his leg. Like Maggie, Tristan gets around really well and loves to play. Tristan is an unusually affectionate cat, even with pain from a broken leg, he was looking for attention and affection. His sweet disposition is sure to make someone very happy!

Maggie and Tristan are spayed/neutered, dewormed, treated with Revolution to prevent fleas, ticks, ear mites and heartworm and are up to date with their shots. Maggie's adoption fee is $200.00 and Tristan's adoption fee is $75.00. Both will receive one free vet exam, one free month of pet health insurance and a microchip.

If you'd like to meet either of them please email us at nyanimalrescue@yahoo.com for an adoption application.

Here are photos of Sweet Maggie and Tristan:

Blanchland, WV Blind Cocker boy in WV needs rescue ASAP

I desperately need to find a rescue group.  Someone has "dropped" a cocker spaniel at my home and I need help.  He is an older adult male.  He appears to be going blind if not completely blind already.  He seems to be a good natured dog so I think the vision issue is the reason why he was abandoned.  I frequently care for homeless dogs but I do not have the funds to help care for this little guy as I just spent $1,000.00 on surgery to remove a cancerous insulinoma from my Italian greyhound.  I have four dogs and I also have five young children so I honestly don't think my home is the best environment for a blinding dog.  /SPAN>We are located in Branchland, WV (about 1 hour outside of Charleston, WV).  If you can help us or know of any one who can please let me know.

Thank you,

Dallas - URGENT Special needs Maine Coon(?) needs a home by 8/12 - Keller Animal Control

>This beautiful tabby Maine Coon named Sparky is in the Dallas/Fort
>Worth area and has until this Sunday, 12 August. My comments are
>below followed by Carolle's, his 'other mother.
>
>A declawed maine coon cat was set on fire (possibly in his carrier
>as he is terrified of carriers). He is also terrified of needles and
>it is a bit of a challenge to give him his depo-medrol shot every
>four or five months to control the pain of his healed but very scarred burns.
>
>He was pulled from the Keller A/Control by a Japanese Chin dog
>rescue and had been fostered by one of their fosterers. They are
>being transferred to another state and are leaving this coming
>Monday. Sparky actually had another foster lined up but at the last
>minute it has fallen thru and now Sparky finds himself desperte to
>find another home. His burns actually are 'healed' but there is a
>lot of scarring that if he doesn't get his shot is uncomfortable for
>him the rest of the time he is a typical happy m/coonie. His
>typical playful Maine Coon personality is outlined below in Carolle's email.
>
>Sparky's biggest problem will be getting him from the Dallas area to
>wherever he needs to go because of the carrier fear. With all the
>burn scarring, we are not even sure if he could be harnessed and
>collared and leashed.
>
>This guy has been thru so much. Sparky desperately needs a foster or
>forever home by this Sunday, 12 August. Carolle suggests that he be
>an only cat because of his 'prankster ways', but being the mother of
>several special needs Maine Coons, I know that they love other cats

An active 5 years old, Boogie is in the prime of his life. In addition, despite being a shepherd mix, he is just 38 lbs.

He may seem a little shy and hesitant in new situations. However, that is only because Boogie is blind. (Since he was picked up as a stray, it goes without saying that this dog is pretty resourceful).

Don't feel sorry for him or write him off as too much labor...Since dogs rely more on scent and sound, blindness isn't as big deal to him as it might be to a human and many blind humans manage just fine.

Like Tina Turner sings in "Proud Mary", he just needs to take things nice, slow and easy when you start walks. Let him get his bearings by touching you ever so slightly. Once he gets a feel for where he is, you can take things up a few notches:-)! Boogie is also very affectionate and outgoing. His dark eyes sparkle and smile. (SAFER is a temperament test developed by Emily Weiss, PhD specifically to assess the behavior of shelter dogs; along with other methods we can get a better idea of the dog's temperaments). We offer a hold system, but please be advised that more than one person can put a "hold" on the same dog. JACK-#24391 4 YRS 3 LEGS

Poor Jack is enough to break your heart. He's obviously been through some severe trauma in his short life, but he's as calm and loving as he can be. He is missing his front left leg, and he has scars all over his head and body. He's also quite emaciated. Jack needs some kind soul to save him from his current situation so that he can finally live the life he deserves. Even with all of his injuries and apparent malnourishment, Jack gives and receives love with such grace that it is almost impossible to imagine him being the product of a neglectful home. Rescue groups, potential adopters, or anybody else, please help find a way to let Jack live the rest of his life experiencing the comfort and love that his first four years have been missing.
Update from another volunteer: #24391-- Jack has had a really rough life, but he is such a gem! Even though he is in such pitiful shape, you can see his beautiful soul shining through. He is also possibly housebroken-- he did all of his business once we let him out, and he will never be one to spray or mark as so many male dogs do, since he needs to use both back legs to stay upright. Jack needs an angel to help him out-- will you be the one?

Special Needs Boston Terrier - Gaithersburg, MD Seizure disorder

Is there someone on this list who might be able to take this guy?

Boston Terrier 1 Year Old Male

Found on Craigslist washington dc

Reply to: comm-381577533@craigslist.org
Date: 2007-07-25, 1:05PM EDT

Sweet and loving little dog needs a house that is one story and has a fenced back yard. He is very quiet and mostly well behaved (although an obedience class would be good for him). He is a pure bred Boston terrier and he just turned one year old. He is small and weighs only 15 lbs. We took him as a rescue but he has had a couple of seizures and has fallen down the steps in our house so we don't think it is safe for him here. We think he needs to go to a home that is only one story. If you think you are interested in him, please send an email. Thanks!

The owner's name is Diane Levene. Here is her email address:

Location: Gaithersbug

Tiny old, blind boston Needs a home

If anyone has a soft spot for senior bostons, Gwinnett AC has this little lumpy old blind girl who will be due out in a few days. I have no idea how long she will live out of the shelter - she is totally ancient, But there's a very sweet little girl behind the gunky eye, the lumps and bumps and the "old dog" body. All she needs to be happy is a soft spot to sleep (she doesn't move from her blanket too often), and someone to cuddle her - she loves to be cuddled up against someone.

If there are any die hard boston lovers that might like to give her a comfortable place to spend whatever time she has left, please give
Officer Hughes a call: 770-339-3200 (dial 0 at the message).

REPOSTING

This sweet little dog had been dragged behind a car. Someone said the car /truck had the dog's leash hooked to the bumper and dragged him forever, his leash broke and this person called ac. This is the first time I have seen an animal that was in this condition. We rushed him to the vet. We are going tomorrow to see how he is doing. they do not know if it was done on purpose or not..

The dog that was dragged behind a car is at Jonesboro Animal Clinic in Jonesboro. The rescue that will be taking the dog though is Atlanta Pet Rescue so donations probably need to be sent to APR because the dog will be going to a different vet on Monday and APR is the group that will ultimately be picking up the bill. So instead of the Jonesboro Clinic possibly being overpaid please just ask that donations be sent to APR.

Atlanta Pet Rescue's site address is www.atlantapetrescue.org and they also have a paypal button.

They have an address that goes directly to the donations that is

McMinnville, TN - DEAF Male Dal URGENTLY needs help!

This handsome boy was pulled by an independent rescuer named Linda Greene in TN.  Pongo is DEAF and is not doing well in his current foster environment.  He is living outside with quite a few other dogs.  He has been there since the  end of April and did great for the first 6 weeks.  He has seemed to get more and more upset being there and just started acting out with 3 of the other dogs.  Pongo has been fine with the others.

Pongo is about 1 year old, neutered, up to date on shots, hw negative and on prevention.  He seems to be having more and more trouble in the current environment.  Linda feels Pongo would do fine in a home environment with just 1 or 2 other dogs and with someone who could work with his deafness.  He seems to be very unhappy outside and uneasy with so many other dogs.  Has to be hard being deaf, being outside all the time, and being "on guard" with so many other dogs.

Can anyone give this handsome deaf boy a chance or atleast get him and evaluate him in another environment?

Linda's contact info is:  labluvr0003@yahoo.com  (labluvr0003 @ yahoo.com)

4 week old Leonard is BLIND, has an ENLARGED HEART, Donations needed for medical care.

Leonardo is pronounced, "lay oh NAHR doh".

We received a call from a man who lives in the country near Clyde, Ohio, and he said one of his outside cats had a blind kitten, and a local veterinarian suggested he call S.P.A..

I gave him information about our low cost spay and neuter program after hearing that there are often kittens being born outside there, and he said he wasn't concerned about them, that they either found homes or weren't a problem (you know what that means).

This little, blind 4 week old kitten was OUTSIDE, and when I asked him to bring him inside where the kitten would be safe he made it clear that that wasn't going to happen.

He said he was leaving town for a few days, and he MAY email me a photo when he returned. I was very concerned the kitten would be dead by then.

Even though we are very low on money and maxed out with foster animals, I called the other members of S.P.A. and they agreed that we had to take this kitten. The kitten was taken to Fremont Animal Hospital.

His eyes are shriveled up under his eyelids, and he is indeed TOTALLY blind. He is missing most of his tail and has a very bad heart murmur. Doctor Alexander suggested an X-ray.

Upon evaluation, the doctor said that it looks like the left side of his heart is quite enlarged, and he suggested we take him to OSU College of Veterinary Medicine so a cardiologist can make recommendations.

The problem is that will be a very expensive visit.
We are hoping to raise donations that will enable us to get Leonard to OSU as soon as possible.

Donations can be made online
through S.P.A.'s Paypal Account at:
www.spaohio.org.

Or, Donations can be mailed to:
Leonard's Heart Fund
P.O. Box 1047
Fremont, OH 43420

Leonardo is currently at Fremont Animal Hospital. We hope to be able to get him in to OSU College of Veterinary Medicine as soon as possible.

Thanks for your donation and/or prayers. This poor little guy is so darned sweet, but he is spunky! That is why I named him Leonardo, meaning Brave Lion.

TN - Minnie, CUTE kitten, needs rescue/home ASAP.

Please click the following link to read about Minnie and see her pictures:
http://ucat.us/Minnie.html

Minnie is a sweet and playful 3-4 month old kitten who was born with no bowel control. She does not require assistance to relieve herself, but she also can't control WHEN she does it. She does TRY to use her litterbox if she feels it coming on, and uses it very good for urinating. She is very happy, healthy, and cute as a button. She was left at her vet's office to be euthanised, but her vet feels she deserves a HOME! She is very happy, and lives a GREAT quality of life. Please take a few moments to read more about her on her webpage, and consider offering her a home, where she can play and do everything any normal kitten would do!

Atlanta GA: Dori the crossed eye kitty with emotional problems needs home FAST

If you can open your heart and home to Dori, Please contact  Barbara at: (631) 261-4321  or blowe@optonline.net

Little bio on Dori. Came to me via the Washington shelter (she helped NEGAS when they got over run with cats) she came with 4 kittens who were not hers and was a bag of bones. When I saw her at the shelter, I told them that I would be back for her, the crossed eyes are great! She raised the kittens, and is now spayed and hanging here. She does not seem to understand that her tail is hers and that is why it is always following her. She attacks it viciously and fights with it most of the night. It is looking pretty ratty at the moment. Her coat and weight look good, she is still a little skittish, I just do not think she can focus and can not see that there is only one of you coming to pet her. I am not sure what to do with her at this point, and need someone who has the time, resources, and money to figure out what is best for her. She is a doll.

Dori loves people but hates her tail. thinks it's something evil on this earth to torment her.
chases it if she notices it following her.
she is fully vetted.

Becky,

The cats are located in the Atlanta metro area. They are inundated down there with cats and kittens and any "unadoptables" don't have much chance - so I know she's desperate to place any she can.
