This beautiful pair of female sibling kitties are wonderful. The siamese's sibling apparently has no eyes. She seems to have been blind for a while b/c she's very
well adjusted.

Columbus Ohio: Nella Rescued From Cruel Backard Breeder injured and Needs Help

NELLAS BIO: Nella is a beautiful 3 year old mostly white pure
Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was rescued from a selfish and cruel
backyard breeder. She was kept in a back room run down trailor in the
dark, in a small filthy cage when she was pregnant and her babies
were sold as early as 5 weeks for bait dogs for fighting.. When she
wasnt pregnant she was chained, on several huge short chains to a
doghouse behind a junkyard among a long row of other bully breeds
this cruel man used for various reasons. She has been overbred but
was an affectionatte and caring mother. She was in severe suffering
when she was rescued. (we also saved one of her puppies) She has
healed physically and emotionally. utd on shots, and she is spayed.
She now thinks she is a lapcat. She was first owned by a lady who had
children and gave her alot of affection but gave her away to this
breeder because she moved into a smaller home. Nella listens well and
LOVES kids and curently lives with 7 other rescues of various breeds,
ages, and temperments and gets along well with all of them. She loves
to go for rides and learned to walk on a leash pretty good. She likes
to chase cats but has never hurt one and will immediately lose
interest when they stop running! She is fine with strange dogs as
long as they dont show any aggression to her (then she grumbles at
them). She has never been in any fights but has been attacked by
other stressed and suffering dogs who got loose at the breeders
junkyard. If she gets off leash she will listen to her human pack and
follow them wherever they go. She likes to snuggle on the couch when
her humans are watching tv and will fall asleep snoring loudly like
an old man in no time. Nella also loves getting kisses and hugs and
loves to kiss her humans back!
NELLAS EMERGENCY: This week she was running around in the yard fast
playing keep away ball with her puppy and another rescue pup and she
made a sharp turn and damaged her spine. She dropped and started
screamingand was unable to get up. She is paralyzed from the hip to
the toes on her back hind leg. (Thank goodness just one leg was
paralyzed!) Her vet said she either has Fibrocartilaginous Embolism
(FCE), or Intervertebral Disk Disease, either way she needs to see a
neurolosit and then get an MRI asap. Her vet visit wasalmost 200$
which was almost all of our funds for all the dogs here in our area.
To see the neurologist, in Columbus, it is 125$ just for him to look
at her and nothing else. The MRI is between 1700$-1900$...We didint
even ask how much surgery for either option was...One hurdle at a
time....We are starting a fundraiser to get her to the neurologist
and for her MRI. We need to know what is wrong so we can work on her
future and make sure that she will be okay..or whether she wont be
okay. We are worried it might be a perm damage and she may be in perm
pain. We just need to find out as much as we can as soon as we can
from this nuerologist. She has been through enough in her life. She
has to be crated and it is hard to do that considering her past
crating experience...She is starting to get depressed and Im worried
about her going downhill. Please repost to anyone you think might be
able to help her.

Abused Breeder dog needs-Surgery Cost Donations Needed by Tomorrow 11/9/07

This is little Bogie. He' s had a
really hard life. First with a breeder.
Then when he wasn' t good enough for
that anymore, the breeder took him
to a high kill shelter. We were able to pull him with in days of him
being euthanized.
He lived most of his life in a cage in horrible conditions. We all know
what that does to an animal.
His back legs were very weak and he had a hard time standing up. When he
was finally able to, his little back was humped over and had bone spurs.
He had a horrible skin condition that caused loss of hair and a bad
smell. He also had what seemed to be an injury to his little pee pee.
I' m not surprised. His ears were
infected and he was very underweight.
Believe it or not, I was able to find wonderful foster parents for this
little guy.
I really thought his luck was about to change but unfortunately it
wasn' t meant to be.
All of a sudden, over night, his left eye started to look bad. He was
taken to an eye specialist which confirmed our worst fears. Little Bogie
had glaucoma. That is a VERY painful eye condition. The doctor said he
just knew he was in a lot of pain. But Bogie is a real trooper and tried
to hid his pain. He was given medication and was sent home with fingers
crossed. We hoped that it was caught in time but it wasn' t.
Bogie' s left eye had to be removed.
That was about 2 week ago. He did so well during surgery but was in so
much pain afterwards.
He just whimpered and moaned all night. But within a few days he was up
and playing.
Ok now we just knew his luck was about to change. He was going to be
pain free and he still had one good eye so we rejoiced in that. But
again, luck was not on his side.
Bogie woke up last Saturday morning with his good eye looking bad. He
was taken to another eye specialist this morning. He was diagnosised
with a detached retina. He is, at this moment, at the hospital awaiting
surgery. It' s scheduled at 4:00
today.
I know you' re saying.....here it
comes. Well, yes, I guess you' re
right.
I cannot pay for yet another surgery. I am just an independent rescuer
so I don' t have the financial means
like a lot of the bigger rescues
have.
The doctor said this one is going to be in
the range of $2000...give or take.
They wanted a 50% down payment before they would do the surgery. They
will not allow me to have an open bill nor would they work with me on
the price. I HAD to (HAD TO) pay $1000 my credit card today and will
have to pay the remaining balance tomorrow when he' s
picked up. I' m just
SICK and somewhat upset that this clinic will not work with me on this
payment. I was told it' s the only
clinic that can do this surgery. And
yes, I' ve checked around and it' s true. I don' t
have $100 in my account
much less $2000.
This little guy so deserves a chance to be happy, pain free and to be
able to see with the eye that he has left.
If you can find it in your hearts to help me help this little guy, I
would so appreciate it.
Time is not on our side but he' s
got to have that surgery one way or
another or he will lose this eye too.

Greenville SC area Blind kitten needs home
It is a 6 mos old sealpoint kitten, not sure if male or female, but it is has been S/N, current on vaccs, plus DECLAWED. The special needs requirements is this kitten is blind from a head trauma. Vet thinks it can see shadows, so who knows? Vision, or at least some, may return at some point in its life. An inside home is an absolute must, as this kitten is declawed and blind.

This handsome boy was returned to the pet store because he grew
into a hip problem.
Humans!!! He is 8 months old, pure breed, and is a sweet
pup. He is well behaved if puppies can be that.
His medical needs are that he has both hips that will need replaced
down the road in his life. He walks well now with a little bottie
shake and the xrays show he needs both hips repaired. If you have a
rescue friendly vet, he can be fixed up real nice.

Dekalb GA, Blind Cattledog & companion whose owner went to prison! - Homes Needed

Woof
and Yellow's owner is now in jail for at least a year and these dogs
are in boarding for only 2 weeks. Woof is very depressed! PLEASE
forward to all lists, friends, out of state or in Georgia. They do not have to go together.
I
also need help with boarding costs for these two please!!!! I didn't
want to take 2 new dogs on but couldn't let them die at the shelter.
If anyone transports dogs up north and can send this plea to them, please do.
If any group can help these dogs, I will need to check them out and make sure they're going to a legit group.
ORIGINAL PLEA FOR HELP:
We
got a call from a man who's having to turn himself in Thursday - 10/18
and will be serving one year in jail. His 2 dogs, Woof and Yellow need
help asap! His family will not help and aren't "animal people."
These
dogs are 6-8 yrs old and are male and female Cattle Dog mixes. He's
had them for 5 years and this is tearing him up inside. He loves his
dogs and is tempted to run with them but knows with no money, he
can't go very far. He hates that his dogs are paying the price for his
bad choices.
Woof is a male and is blind. He follows Yellow everywhere and relies a lot on her.
Yellow
is a female and knows about 20 tricks. Both are mellow and both LOVE
people. They weigh around 50 lbs and are inside dogs.
His only option is to have Deklab Animal Control come get them where they will surely be killed!
PLEASE, if you or someone you know could hold these dogs until we can get them into a rescue or place them, that would be great.

needy . he has
been sitting in the shelter for two weeks in his condition.

This shelter is the LAST
place ANY animal would want to find themselves. It is isolated,
conditions are horrible and no chance of adoption because it is hard to find
and has very, very limited adoption hours.
Therefore, this precious three-legged girl will
absolutely die without rescue intervention. By crossposting and
asking, I have helped their single volunteer reach appropriate breed
rescues, and she has saved many from there .

They euthanize on Mondays. I
know this dog will be one of the first on the

it all. We just need a GOOD rescue who will save his life.

Donations Needed for Emergency surgery! Please help Destiny!
Destiny has been in rescue for over a year now, she is a bit semi-feral kitty, or I should say spoiled feral! The reason I'm saying this is because when she came into our rescue a year ago she wasn't eating on her own so we had to force feed her,
But due to the fact that she didn't like the syringe, we use a baby silver spoon and of cour a bib!
She absolutely loved being spoon fed and will open her mouth just as baby's do.
Destiny had recurrent UTI's since she has been with us that it will always cleared up with antibiotics, but this time it didn't.
She started with a UTI last week and we started her on antibiotics immediately, but this time she wasn't responding to the antibiotics and the blood in her urine was more and more everyday and brighter than usual.
Despite the efforts and constant care of her foster parents Sara and Jeff, the special C/D diet and the bottle water and what not, she wasn't getting better and was in much pain this morning, so for a trip to the vet we went.
After an x-ray was taken we came to find out that poor Destiny had bladder stones and an emergency surgery had to be performed.
Funds are desperately needed to cover her bill, of $800 +, $600 was the surgery and 200+ today's visit, x-rays and what not.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Broward authorities are investigating reports that someone in a pickup truck threw a cat and three kittens out of a window onto a ramp of Interstate 95. The older cat survived, but the three kittens were found dead.
The cat -- gray and white like the kittens -- was discovered in a storm drain near the ramp from Oakland Park Boulevard onto southbound I-95, near where the kittens were tossed around 9:30 a.m. Monday.
Beth Danielson of Pompano Beach, who heads the volunteer group Feline-n-Feathers, said she received a call from a friend who said someone saw a man throwing the animals out of a white Chevrolet pickup truck.
Danielson called 911 and then said she headed toward the ramp, where she said she found the kittens dead on the pavement and the mother cat hiding in the drain.
Danielson is caring for the gray cat, which will most likely be put up for adoption. Danielson said the cat's claws had been broken off, probably from the impact after being thrown from the truck and landing on the pavement.
Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or Danielson at 954-943-5455.

Sometime in her past, she has had her pelvis and leg broken which has healed on its own so she walks a little funny. Right now she is being treated for a skin condition which makes her kind of funny looking. But what a darling! She has a loving personality and is a goofy, upbeat kind of dog. She's willing to make the most out of her life if you are willing too.

Basil is the newest addition to our rescue family. He is a purebred Australian Shepherd. He is deaf and mostly blind. He was found wandering in Satsuma, LA.
Basil is a very friendly and cuddly boy. He loves to play tug-of-war. He is also extremely intelligent and eager to please. He has already learned several touch signals, he can sit and lay down through touch commands, and he has learned to come to foot stomping on the floor. He is very loving and devoted and follows his foster mom everywhere she goes, even to the bathroom!
Basil is housetrained and knows to go potty right away when he goes outside. He walks very well on the leash, right next to his person. Basil will make a great pet, he needs a patient human who has lots of time to spend with him.

Orlando or SC - 2 little kittens w/ cloudy eyes need home(s) or may be PTS

I helped the daughter of an elderly mobile home park owner in
Columbia SC get all the cats at the mobile home park fixed recently
as the elderly owner can no longer live there. One cat had 4 week
old kittens whose eyes hadn't opened. The owners were young Hispanic
couple w/ no English. I took triple antibiotic, amoxy, etc. and
showed them how to care for them, dewormed kits and applied Advantage
and treated mom too - problem appeared to be URI/herpes virus. Two
kittens recovered completely and a home found for them; two have
cloudy eyes but they get around fine and I don't think they have much
sight impairment.
The daughter of the mobile home park owner lives in Orlando, Fl. She
took the kittens back there and they are now w/ someone who is
connected to a rescue there but she apparently has 50 cats and
reportedly the place didn't smell too good. These kittens need a
good home w/ someone who understands that herpes virus sometimes
flares up again (although it might not) and that they might need
further eye care in the future.
Two little girls, brown tabbies with spotted tummies, very cute,
slightly small for age.
Anyone know anyone in Columbia, SC or even better, in Orlando,
Florida, that would be interested in these kitties or a really
reputable rescue?

Handipets does not usually work with breeders, however this breeder is going out of business and has placed the remaining cats up for adoption rather than selling them to another cattery where they would be sold at higher prices and most likely bred. Paco is a loving, gentle,
playful little guy. He loves other dogs, and it doesn't seem to matter to him
what size or sex they are--he just want to play! Paco was given up by his
family due to a a major problem with a chronic infection in his toenails of
his feet. He came to us when his family just couldn't deal with one more
medical visit for this tiny little boy. I'm sure they had no idea that a puppy
could have such problems; Paco has been to the vet twice a month since he was
born in an effort to figure out what is happening with his feet.
While
Paco is fine with children, for his safety we ask that only families with
children age of 7 apply to adopt.

Chihuahua Mix with special needs needs home

I am a veterinary technician at an emergency clinic. This past week, we
had a very sad case come in. It was an 11# chihuahua mix that had been
in labor and had a puppy stuck for over 24 hours, and the owner thought
that was normal. They could not afford to treat, so they turned her
over and we performed the c-section/spay. No puppies survived, but Mom
is doing well. And now the next problem, "Harlee" (as we've been
calling her) also has a luxating patella, which means her knee cannot
stay in place. I have her lined up for surgery, but she does need a
good home. She is a very needy dog and was obviously a lap dog as she
wants to be very close to you and on top of you all the time. I am
asking for help with her knee surgery for an adoption fee, as the spay
was paid for by my clinic. I would like her to go to a home in the
Charlotte area so that I can get her back easily for her surgery, but
am looking to place her soon. And please understand you will be helping
her with the healing process after surgery as well. Thank you.

Blind spayed cat needs a home

I took in a cat, who somebody dumped into the appartment complex I live
in. I already have a full house of cats,a dog and a newborn now :o)
Shadow (about seven years old) was unspayed (we took care of that first)
and has some medical issues. she is blind and for a while couldnt go
the bathroom (no2). we went to the vet a alot!!! they even did test for
free cause they were interested in her case...they still dont know what
causes her symptoms(bloodwork looks fine)...she is still in good spirit
despite everything. Ive been trying to find a good home for her since
the beginning (local vets, flyers, friends etc.) but it seems hopeless.
She needs a home without small children or energetic pets..I am running
out of money and don't have the time for her she deserves.
Please help me...

Blind Rottie Senior, Brooklyn, NY Needs Home
Trajan was rescued by a Cat
Rescue Affiliate. Previous owners were going to put him in the
shelter. This is when someone intervened and decided to
keep him at the Vet's Office in boarding. Now the story has taken a
drastic change. Trajan's caretaker at the Vet's Boarding Facility is
always drinking and the cat rescue person who is paying for his boarding is no longer able to do so.
Trajan spent his whole life tied a chain, on concrete by previous
owners but a blind and Senior living in
boarding at the Vet's office is not a life for a Senior. Some grass,
or rugs, or soft doggie bed would be more pleasing.

Senior with digestive disorder needs home

My name is Julia. I am looking for a home for a sixteen year old cat, Alex. Alex is still a very sweet, spry and loving cat but he is having digestive problems (loose bowels) and the current owner does not have the financial resources to take him to the vet for testing and treatment. The "poopie-problem" has gotten bad and the family that has known and loved this cat since he was only 4 months old is just sick with the thought of having to have him euthanized - but they don't have the money to provide treatment. I think that Alex could still have several years of good life if we could find a person with the monetary resources that is willing to care for an aging cat.
